Alexa Fogel (she/her), MA

Research Interests: Interpersonal mindfulness; Mental health; Anxiety; Mindfulness and compassion-based interventions; Self-compassion

Biography: Alexa Fogel is a PhD4 student in the Counselling Psychology program. Alexa holds a BA hons. in Psychology from Concordia University and an MA in Counselling Psychology from McGill University. She has previously worked as a research assistant at the Concordia Infant Research Lab where she assisted in studies examining bilingual language development and volunteered for an active listening and crisis intervention line, where she worked as a training supervisor. Alexa’s CIHR funded Master’s research examined the scope of private psychotherapy practice in Quebec following the COVID-19 pandemic. Her current research interests include improving access to mental health services, anxiety disorders and how mindfulness can be used to manage symptoms of anxiety in social contexts. Alexa has completed clinical practicums at the McGill Psychoeducational and Counselling Clinic, Montreal Therapy Center and Connecte Montreal Psychology Group. She will begin a practicum at the Lester B. Pearson School Board in September 2026.
